Luisa's Danish home in Ringe

Our next family visit was to my Danish Mother, Elga Pedersen, in Ringe, on the island of Funen.
We enjoyed another family day with Mor, Elsebeth, Hans Jorgen, Jonas, Kristian and Emil.  Sunday church service was very special, in the church where Elsebeth and Hans Jorgen were married and my Danish grandparents and Father are buried.

Morfar and Mormor's gravestones (Mother's Father and Mother's Mother's gravestones - you too can speak Danish!)

Mor in the kitchen - she baked up a storm for our visit!  And we appreciated every morsel!

Being a tourist in Copenhagen

We toured Copenhagen as if we were tourists.  The boys have basically grown up in Hong Kong and it has been YEARS since we had seen the sights.  Rosenborg Slot (Castle) was a great stop on a perfect summer day.   People were enjoying the park around the castle and we toured the interior to see the crown jewels.
The Little Mermaid was also a must!  And a canal cruise.  It was fun to be wander around see the city.

Then we drove about an hour north of the city to the beach, to visit my Danish uncle and his partner.  It was another stunningly beautiful Danish evening with a very late sunset and we walked to the beach before dinner.

Elsebeth to the left, Luisa in the center and  Terri to the right.

And then there was dinner!  Yummy!  Typically prepared baked Danish pork with the crackling on top and the strawberries "paste" with milk for dessert.  I'm not great at describing such foods except to write we ate them with a happy heart as we savored all the memories they brought back on this incredible summer evening.

An Expressive Artist at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival

Very proud to share Jonas' debut in the Jazz Festival!  It was a perfect night to enjoy the music of Crunch House in a city square in Copenhagen.
